Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complicated but well-loved poker games. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has grown in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha hi low starts like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A sequence of wagering ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. A further sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where many players often get confused. Contrasted to Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to use precisely three cards on the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical approach in nearly every poker game.

A low hand is more complex, but really free’s up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the complete pot.

While it seems complicated initially, following a few rounds you will be able to get the fundamental subtleties of play easily enough. Seeing as you have players wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha/8 provides an exciting collection of wagering options and because you have several players shooting for the high hand, along with many shooting for the low.
